Florida Will Inspect Your Home for Free

Florida recently expanded its hurricane protection programs.

Here is what Jupiter homeowners need to know.

Florida offers free wind mitigation inspections for homesteaded, owner occupied, site built homes. There is no income test or home value limit for the inspection.

The report may identify insurance discounts for improvements already on your home, including impact glass, shutters, roof attachments, or secondary water protection.

Some homeowners may also qualify for up to $10,000 toward approved hurricane upgrades. Roof covering replacement can now qualify in certain situations. Income, home value, construction date, plus other eligibility requirements apply.

Do not begin work before receiving written grant approval.

Florida also offers up to a $500 sales tax refund for qualifying impact windows, exterior doors, or garage doors purchased through June 30, 2029. This applies to qualifying homesteaded homes valued at $700,000 or less.

The free inspection is the first step. It may save you money even without receiving a grant.
