Jupiter Lighthouse Shoreline Construction

Jupiter Lighthouse Shoreline Construction

Everyone in Jupiter has seen the Lighthouse project by now, so I will keep this simple.

The latest visible update I found shows real progress along the shoreline.

A May 21 public update showed the riprap and seawalls starting to take shape, crews continuing to install pilings for the future boardwalk around the point, and new vegetation being planted behind the retaining walls.

That lines up with the official BLM project scope, which includes shoreline stabilization, wave breaks, pilings, new access points, native planting, and a future boardwalk along the river.

So where are they now?

The project is clearly past the early prep stage. The shoreline structure is taking shape, the boardwalk pilings are going in, and the planting work has started behind the retaining walls.

The official BLM page still lists August 2026 as the completion target. A recent Sierra Club Loxahatchee Group update said the project should be completed by early December of this year. Anyone who has been around construction knows timelines can move, so I would lean toward the later date until there is a sharper public update.

It has been interesting seeing the change from the boat, especially thinking back to when I was younger and sand mountain was still there with the rope swings. Jupiter has changed a lot.

The wall itself is not exactly the most beautiful thing right now, but hopefully the planting softens it up once the project is complete. At the very least, it should create a more stable shoreline and another place to anchor up and enjoy the blue water near the mouth of the inlet.

What are your thoughts on the project?
